Dental Surgeon Dr. Maziar Shahzad Dowlatshahi was recently nominated as one of the world’s top 100 dentists by Global Summit’s Academy of Oral Surgery, noting his work and contribution to patient health care and education. He has performed more than 15,000 implant placements over the course of his career.
After graduating in 1994 in Dentistry from Shahid Beheshti University in Iran, Dr. Dowlatshahi went on to pursue a post graduate program in periodontics, obtaining his master’s degree in 2000 after three years of residency.
Dr. Dowlatshahi worked as an assistant professor of periodontics and chief of research at Jondi Shapoor University, while starting a private practice in implant dentistry and periodontics. After moving to Canada, he received a general license from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
He holds certificates in advanced bone augmentation from University of Bern, Switzerland and advanced guided bone regeneration (GBR) techniques from University of Vienna, Austria as well as a fellowship in implant dentistry from DentalXP Globe in the United States. He was also named an honorable knight from MINEC; a prestigious international educational center.
Dr Dowlatshahi is a frequent speaker at lectures, webinars and hands-on training courses throughout the world. He founded the Implant Diary Study Club to help teach students and dentists implant techniques and has invented software to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of periodontal diseases based on logistic regression and artificial intelligence.
Outside of dentistry, art is his life-long passion and has written and directed plays for live theater.
